A manifestation of the artist's creative vision, this unique piece of art has been entirely handcrafted. To bring this vision to life, a judicious combination of finely molded and sculpted materials blends the traditional with the contemporary: ceramic for the white and gray corals, the base and the body of the fish; resin and silicone for the various algae and the red coral. The result is a hyper-realistic sculpture that challenges our perception of reality. Surprised, our eye wanders into the sculpture's three-dimensional space. Adopting different points of view and circling around the work, we discover and understand the scene playing out before us, between the fish's lowered right eye on one side, and the eggs representing its future feast on the other. Drawn into the story, we enter the thematic universe of the beauty and death of this marvellous fish, the Pomacanthus imperator.
